Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician (CSPT) Practice Exam

ISO Class 8 is associated with the least number of air changes per hour among the listed options. This classification is part of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards for cleanrooms and controlled environments, which specify the maximum allowable particle count in the air.

ISO Class 8 has a higher permissible particle count than the other classes like ISO Class 5, 6, and 7, which means it allows for more particulate matter. As a result, the airflow requirements become less stringent, leading to fewer air changes per hour compared to the cleaner environments represented by ISO Class 5, 6, and 7.

In the context of sterile compounding, different ISO classes have specific applications and requirements based on the level of cleanliness needed for certain procedures and product formulations. ISO Class 8 might be used for less critical areas where the risk of contamination is lower, compared to the more stringent conditions required in ISO Class 5, which serves as a clean environment for sterile preparations. Understanding these classifications is essential for maintaining proper sterile techniques and ensuring patient safety in compounded preparations.
